G1MRA Yorkshire Group

G1MRA Yorkshire Group is one of the local groups of the Gauge One Model Railway Association, a UK based international organisation with around 2500 members worldwide. The Yorkshire Group is based, as its name suggests, in Yorkshire, but we do have active members in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire as well.  We meet on a regular basis in the summer months for garden railway steam-ups in various parts of the region, including Sheffield, Wakefield, Chesterfield, Rotherham and Whitby.  Our interest and expertise is varied, but we all are keen modellers and users of Gauge 1.

For several years, a number of the members of the Yorkshire Group have exhibited their engines and stock at engineering exhibitions in Harrogate and Pickering and at the ALSRM Shows in Pontefract, Shepshed and York. Some of these have included live steam running.  Gauge 1 North 2010 was our first Gauge 1 public exhibition, and has received compliments from across the country.  We are repeating the formula in 2011. We have also achieved another first, having been invited to exhibit at the Nationa Railway Museum in York in October 2011, a highly successful event.

Below are some pictures from recent get togethers. These are examples of the types of locomotives you can see at our exhibitions.

A Roundhouse - 'Lady Anne' conversion to LMS (BR) 3F hauling a mixed goods train with
'a wrong line' ticket! Whether it is very early BR or a preservation scene, is up to you!
